English Company with FIFA Accreditation to Apply VAR in Cooperation with PLC and Broadcast Companies
Dubai/ Monday, October 10th, 2017: The Committee in charge of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) held its coordination meeting yesterday at UAE FA Premise in Dubai, to discuss the mechanism for application of VAR following the approval on contracting with Hawk-Eyes Company in the forthcoming period.
The meeting was attended by Acting General Secretary, Ibrahim Hassan Al Nemer; Committee Members; PLC Representatives and Broadcast Licensees.
Ali Al Badwawi, the Committee Member and well-known Refereeing Expert highlighted the efforts exerted by the committee since receiving the mandate from Board of Directors to prepare for the application of this technology. The Committee carried out communication with International Football Association Board (IFAB) to get familiar with the technology and studied the offer submitted by Hawk-Eyes Company which has accreditation from IFAB and FIFA.
He thanked UAE FA President, Marwan bin Ghalita for adopting this great project which would benefit UAE football.
He added “following the signing of the contract with the company, we will train around 15 referees and apply practical trials, in anticipation for applying the program in AGL matches to be kicked off in January 2018
