Wednesday, November 8th, 2017: UAE U-19 National Team has concluded its participation in the qualifiers in the lead and officially reserved a seat in AFC U-19 Championship 2018 despite the loss of its last game nil – 1 to Bahrain.
The coach Drulović has selected new lineup for the game with the aim of providing opportunity of play for more players. He engaged Salem Khairi (goalkeeper), Khalil Ibrahim, Saif Abdulrazaq, Sultan Saeed, Nahyan Adel, Yousuf Ayman, Mohanad Ahmed, Marwan Fahad, Mohamed Ibrahim, Rashid Salem and Mohamed Al Dosary.
The game commencement was uneventful where the play was restricted to mid-field and there were rare non-promising attacks from both sides. Minute 30 witnessed the turning point of the game when UAE player Khalil Ibrahim was sent off following denial of obvious scoring opportunity for Bahrain. Consequently, UAE was put in heavy pressure, but anyhow the first half ended in goalless draw.
UAE kicked off the 2nd half swiftly in an attempt to score an early goal, but Bahrain was playing compactly and it was able to open the scoring from skillful header at minute 72. UAE coach made two substitutes by engaging Ahmed Fouzi and Khalfan Al Noobi instead of Mohamed Al Dosari and Rashid Salem. Henceforth, UAE began to dominate the scene and it was succeeded in creating couple of obvious opportunities that were defended properly by Bahrain.
