Following Beating of Lebanon with Penalty kicks
Dubai / Monday, April 16th, 2018: Jordan was crowned champion for WAFF U-15 Girls Championship after beating Lebanon 5 – 4 with penalty kicks in the match which was held yesterday at Dhiyab Awana Pitch in Dubai and ended in 1 – 1 draw in its normal time.
UAE FA Board Member and LOC Chairman HE Amal Bu Shallakh and UAE FA General Secretary, HE Mohamed Hazzam Al Dhaheri have honored Jordan national team with the championship trophy and medals in presence of Ibrahim Hasan Al Nemer, Assistant General Secretary for Technical Affairs; Hussein Saeed, WAFF Executive Committee Member; Shifa Al Al Amoush, Jordan Embassy and Members of LOC.
Lebanon received the runners-up medal, while Palestine came in the 3rd place following its 2 – nil win over Bahrain in the game held yesterday prior to the final.
In respect to individual awards, Bahrain player Zahra Al Ali was received Best Goalkeeper Award; MVP award has gone to Aynas Al Jamaeen from Jordan, while her teammate Elain Al Sulaimeen was recipient of scorer award.
Bushallakh expressed her happiness on the spirit of competitiveness demonstrated by the players and exalted their technical performance, saying “everyone is winner irrespective of actual scores of matches. It was the first competition for the players and we do not put blame on their shoulders”.
She affirmed that UAE has shown good performance despite the bad luck in finishing the attacks which was due to lack of sufficient experience, adding “thanks to the constant support of UAE FA, Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Fatma bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy to the development of women football in UAE – the tournament was a success”.
She concluded “I take this opportunity to thank Dr. Reema Al Hosani and her medical staff; Dubai Ambulance, Al Baraha Hospital and Rashid hospital for their valuable support and cooperation”.
